Digital Marketing tips for SMEs
So you run a small business, you have a website, you post the odd update on social media, you’ve got marketing sorted right? I’m afraid not.
Here’s some top tips if you run a small business and are looking to take advantage of digital marketing to boost the profile and growth of your business.
New trustee steps into post at Stick ‘n’ Step
Cerebral palsy charity Stick ‘n’ Step has announced the appointment of a new trustee to its Board, taking the total number to nine. Following a rigorous application, interview and selection process, marketing consultant Jayne Kennedy has joined the team.
Sustainable business practices and marketing
The pandemic has changed certain behaviours and attitudes. Businesses need to figure out what their customers need before they need it, but also keep up with any changing trends so their brand is not left behind.
The current variety of new or accelerated trends – like sustainability or wellness – mean the marketing message your brand portrays is not now always about the product itself, but about the ethics of the brand selling the product or service. It’s crucial business owners fully understand these trends and utilise them as part of their overall marketing strategy.
Merry Christmas! That was 2021…
So here we are, at the end of another busy year. During this article I want to reflect on 2021 and what 2022 might bring.
One thing is for sure, marketing and in particular digital marketing, social media, email, PR, website design and a full mix approach is vital to the success of any organisation, charitable, public or private, small, medium or large.
Why does a small business need a website?
No small business owner should underestimate the power of a smooth, aesthetically pleasing website that customers can navigate with ease. Think about it: where do most people turn when they want to seek out the hot new restaurant, the up-and-coming marketing boutique? The web of course! Believe it or not, however, roughly half of all small businesses lack a website.
You don’t have to let that be you!
How Digital PR benefits your brand
Like it or not, the media truly does matter. The world you and I live in is saturated by the media
Rolling 24-hour news coverage, second-by-second breaking news stories on Twitter, newspapers on newsstands, independent bloggers. Regardless of the format it takes, the media is a continual presence in our lives.
This is why it’s crucial brands need to both be aware and engage with the media. In traditional times this was done through PR, and whilst the platforms and methods by which media portray news and content as changed, the premise of reputation maintenance and promotion has not.
The benefit of a joined up marketing plan
As your business is formed you have a million and one things to do logistically, but if you don’t get your marketing approach aligned to your plans, you won’t maximise the potential impact when you launch your new business. Dipping in here and there with a bit of social media, and occasional website updates, isn’t enough. Jayne Kennedy has over 18 years’ experience in helping businesses communicate with the right people, in the right way, at the right time. This all helps to raise awareness amongst your target audience, and ultimately drive interest and revenue.
What is a brand?
“A brand is the unique way for your target audience to identify your product or service as opposed to that of a competitor”
Well, that’s a very grand way of putting it anyway!
Everyone knows some of the world’s biggest brands, Coca Cola, Amazon, Google, Apple, but even smaller brands add value and aid the ability for you to sell your product and services in a way that suits.
What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation, and is the mysterious phrase coined by techies to describe the fine art of balance in trying to maximise the chance that your website will appear in front of your target audience when they are using a search engine to find a product or service which your business offers.
